Skills and Employability Enhancement Project

FUNCTIONAL PROFESSION MAPS

Competency-based training methodology requires to be carried out a functional analysis of the task and responsibilities of the profession by organizing a panel of experts in order to develop a competence standard using the DACUM method (abbreviated as “Developing a curriculum”. The panel of experts on the DACUM method is a two-day seminar, in which experts/specialists from employers, associations, ministries, and agencies are invited. During two days, the experts will discuss the duties and responsibilities of work, the set of knowledge, skills, and professional qualities, the list of necessary tools, equipment, and materials to define a profession, and will develop a functional map of the profession.

According to the requirements of the new training methodology, the functional map of the profession should be subject to field examination, so that the actual demand of the labor market is taken into account when determining the content of training and developing the competence standard, program, and training materials related to the profession. From this point of view, within the framework of CBT methodology, functional maps of each profession are examined by field experts, and official conclusions of employers, associations, ministries, and agencies will be obtained.

International organizations that use the DACUM method for the development of their work are Boeing, Kodak, Energizer, Heinz, Honda, General Motors, Motorola, Toyota, and Walt Disney World.
