FORUM PARTICIPANTS VISITED THE NURAK HYDROPOWER STATION
May 28, 2026 — Participants of the International Skills Forum Tajikistan 2026 toured one of the largest energy facilities in Central Asia, the Nurak Hydroelectric Power Station.
Young people competing in the Electrician and Solar Equipment Installer competitions saw how their professional skills are applied in real-life production settings during their visit to the Nurak Hydroelectric Power Station.
The guests were greeted with bread and salt, folk dances, and songs. The plant's management explained the history of the hydroelectric power plant's construction, its strategic importance for the country's economy, and the equipment modernization process. The young people were particularly familiar with the size of the hydraulic structure and the operation of the central turbine hall.
Hydroelectric power plant specialists emphasized the need for qualified specialists to manage and maintain such facilities. Electricians, welders, and fitters are in high demand in the current labor market. The Tajikistan 2026 Forum and the "Skills and Employability Enhancement Project" are working to develop precisely this type of workforce.
Forum participants were amazed by the beautiful landscapes of our country and the Nurek Hydroelectric Power Plant itself, noting, among other things: "I came to Tajikistan for the first time and was captivated by its unique nature. Green valleys, clear skies, and soaring mountains—all this beauty is incomparable." "Nurek is more than just a power plant. It is a true school for electricians and engineers. Seeing all this up close helped us better understand the value of our profession."
This forum is being held as part of the "Improving Professional Skills and Employability" Project, supported by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
